At the 1st Law and Economics Forum, António Caxito Marques, Partner at PRIME Advogados, took part in the round table “Corporate governance and investment strategies”, moderated by Ana Perestrelo de Oliveira, Of Counsel at VdA and Associate Professor with habilitation at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

The panel also featured contributions from Francisco Simão (Legal and Corporate Affairs Director at Azule Energy), Natacha Barradas (Executive Director of Banco de Fomento Angola), Diogo Costa Gonçalves (Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon) and Ana Filipa Morais Antunes (Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University).

The discussion focused on the challenges of corporate governance and its impact on investor confidence and economic development in Angola.

In his remarks, António Caxito Marques highlighted the importance of transparent and accountable governance structures as the foundation for sustainable investment. He also stressed the relevance of dispute resolution through arbitration as an effective mechanism to strengthen trust in the business environment, and provided a brief analysis of the current legal framework on corporate recovery and insolvency in Angola, underlining its challenges and opportunities for improvement.
